HEY, I’M SAM!
I’m so happy you’re here! Let me introduce myself a little!
I’m a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, an ACES Certified Personal Trainer and I also hold my CrossFit Level 1 Certification. I’ve been actively involved in the fitness and wellness space for close to ten years and have a past history of also teaching Spin, TRX, Strength and Cardio classes and bootcamp.
I’ve been active my whole life - playing competitive soccer throughout childhood to present day and have also completed over 10 half marathons and ran a full marathon!
Over the last 5 years, I fell in love with CrossFit and a heavy barbell. I’ve always loved pushing myself to the fullest both physically and mentally and have prioritized nutrition not only to fuel my activity levels but to also recover properly from my workouts so I can keep doing what I love.
In 2022, when I got pregnant, I wanted to continue doing what I knew - being active. Despite all the formal education under my belt and multiple years in the industry, I quickly realized that there wasn’t much clarity in the information around pregnancy and the postpartum period for active women.
After shuffling through textbooks, google searching (more than I’d like to admit) and leaning on medical professionals for advice, I quickly realized that there is a massive gap between the healthcare and the fitness industry that causes a lot of unnecessary confusion and fear for active pregnant and postpartum women.
Doctors and midwives told me “not to get my heart rate over 140 bpm” or “not to lift more than 20lbs”. (UMMMM… hello!? Do you know what CrossFit is?!) and co-workers and coaches were telling me that I could “continue doing what you’ve always done” or “just listen to your body”.
To clear all this uncertainty (and fear), I started doing some research of my own. This trickled into a small weekend course and grew to multiple full-blown certifications for pregnant and postpartum women.
With emotions riding high, I decided to pivot my private practice completly to be focused solely on this population. No woman should feel lost or alone, trying to stay fit and healthy during their pregnancy. They should have guidance from an educated trainer vs. just guessing on how to interpret their doctors’ extreme and generalized words of caution.
I'm hoping to be the resource that I never had during my pregnancy and provide you with education and strategies to remain not only active during your pregnancy but help you return to fitness postpartum both safe and effectively without any pressure or expectation.
